Kevin Chupik

Kevin Chupik has been a professional exhibiting artist for over 25 years. While living throughout the American Southwest, he has cultivated a unique artistic aesthetic. He actively seeks juxtapositions of traditional Western imagery elements with those of vintage modernity. There are often elements of irony or humor woven into the conceptual constructs which make up his paintings. Chupik’s narrative vignettes seek to “cut fresh trail” into the Contemporary Western genre, by merging elements of pop and surreal art with Western iconography.

Kevin’s originals and prints are actively collected throughout the U.S, Canada, UK and Australia. He holds a Masters in Painting and Drawing from The University of Colorado at Boulder and BFA from Texas Christian University. Artist Statement

Having grown up in the Southwest, its spaces shaped within me a specifically high desert aesthetic. Its people, places and history function as the formative building blocks for my work, however there are occasional surreal modifications to this reality. Because this region’s identity stands in both past and present, I frequently juxtapose mid-century modern architectural forms within a classical desert landscape, populated by a reoccurring vintage cowboy main character. The resulting artwork is simultaneously vintage and contemporary yet sentimental for a past, now made present.
